Spartacus Vengeance: The War of Slaves Goes On
Since it's return of Spartacus Vengeance in January, the war between the rebel slaves and the Roman soldiers had been heightened. The slaves who are seeking for freedom is fighting for their lives against the oppressive Romans who simply want to retain their superiority over their slaves. After watching the four episode of this series, I can safely conclude that the Spartacus Vengeance can definitely live up to the hype. Even with new actor playing the lead role, the Vengeance still delivers the awesome entertainment with a blood roaring excitement that the previous season had given us.
By far the Metacritic had given the series an aggregated score of 56 mixed or average reviews based on 10 critics. Everything fans loved about the first season (Spartacus Blood and Sands) was improved dramatically over its course, is still improving as the episodes progress in the Vengeance. The action scenes are well done but a bit it is still quite the same but the women of Spartacus are blazing hot and for a woman of her age Lucy Lawless is triple hot and together with Katrina Law and Viva Bianca they are create an inferno.
The first four episodes of the series are focused on establishing Spartacus as a leader of this band of would-be soldiers, and that allows the audience to adjust and also come to accept Liam McIntyre as the new Spartacus. Personal goals cause friction in the ranks as each man has a score to settle. So far this second season is feeling like a study in the formation of a revolutionary army. There's no telling how far the story will go in just one season, especially knowing that this war lasts for years. On Friday, February 24, 2012 the Spartacus Vengeance Episode 5 is about to air. Let's see where these episodes go.
But what has always set Spartacus apart is how wonderful the characters are. Illythia and Lucretia's continued battle was sorely missed during the prequel season, and the two are immediately back into full on conniving mode the moment they're together again. Oenomaus is a lost man as he's betrayed the House of Batiatus, and without his loyalty the man has nothing. Crixus is focused only on finding Naevia. And it's watching all of these people circle each other and relate that makes each episode so special. Spartacus wastes no time in throwing out character defining moments, and in one case at the end of the first episode a redefining moment. I ended my viewing of the first four episodes with my fists raised in the air and yelling. Not many shows can get that kind of visceral reaction.
Vengeance is the story of them finding that meaning and beginning the next steps in an epic journey that will shake the very foundation of Rome. It is an interesting way to learn history. If you want action, intense drama, gore, blood, sex and everything else in between then I suggest that you should watch Spartacus Vengeance. If could totally make your blood zing.
