RnB (also known as R&B or Rhythm and Blues) is a very popular music genre that combines jazz, blues and gospel influences. It was first performed by African American artists. I got this tweet the other day talking to an artist on Twitter. Mind you I'm networking with someone who might buy beats from me and who I can continue to make music with. With VEVO's new deal with Facebook, it requires the same process and this is the reason why I won't be using VEVO as much as I have in the past.

This year music industry veteran Ronnie Matthews and the Starfleet Music Pool are celebrating 22 years in the music business. Most people under the age of 30, have no idea what a record pool is or the importance they played in breaking new music while playing the liaison between DJs and record labels.

Starfleet is one of the few record pools that is still standing from the "golden area," and it continues to thrive because of its willingness to embrace change. With over 19,000 registered DJs in it's database, Starfleet is consistently recognized as a global leader in music promotions. Early last week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ronnie about the history of Starfleet and why record pools are still important.

How was Starfleet started?

First understand this one thing. As far as annual income goes, within the old paradigm musicians reach their full paying potential between five and eight years into their career. This is an average of all professional musicians at any given time. The maximum average of that income is less than eighty thousand dollars a year. Most never achieve that amount. However when you average in the player that is going full time, such as an orchestra musician, with all of the club musicians you reach a number close to that. You need to understand that the old paradigm is what we are trying to change.

The old paradigm said this: I will work in as many clubs as I can and barely make a living and hope that someone will discover me and I will make it as a performing artist. The clubs have not changed. I have been in this business for close to forty years and I can tell you that the amount of money you can make playing in clubs today is not much different from thirty years ago. As a matter of fact, it is almost identical. Why do you think this is? To go there you have to understand the club and why you should not be treating it as your bread and butter.

I thought it best to begin this review of the film 'Hugo' with a quote from this song by the Smashing Pumpkins. Not that this song or this quote describes the film in any way. But that the MTV for this song, shares something in common with Scorsese's 'Hugo': both paid tribute to film maker Georges Melie.

I do not know who Melie was, or what his role was in the film industry. But while watching 'Hugo,' especially when I saw the footage of the smiling sun and the rocket ship, I was immediately reminded of the Smashing Pumpkins' 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' album cover, and the 'Tonight Tonight' music video. I revisited the Smashing Pumpkins video after watching the film, and realized, that yes, it seems the Pumpkins were also giving a nod to Melie's art when they did their music video. I would say it would have been perfect to use even one song from this great album in the film, but that's asking too much.

The first time I set out to make a documentary, I wasn't sure what my subject would be. As a student in film school, there were many styles of documentary film to choose from, and the possibilities were endless.

As a big fan of documentaries, I wanted to create something that was more than just the nightly news. I believed greatly in Jean-Luc Godard's comment that "Photography is truth. The cinema is truth twenty-four times per second." And though Godard was a narrative filmmaker, his films have always had a documentary edge—they're more like political narratives that focus on an idea or a topic, which even scripted expose the truth. Godard is also one of the most taught filmmakers at film schools, precisely because he was so revolutionary in his filmmaking.

Blizzard have launched a new payment method that enables you to buy digital games straight form your account.

Battle.net Balance is now live! As we announced previously, Battle.net Balance is a new feature that gives players an alternate way to purchase Blizzard digital products and services directly through their Battle.net accounts. Players are now able add to their Battle.net Balance using a variety of payment methods, and then use that balance toward Blizzard Entertainment products and services such as World of Warcraft game time; paid services, such as realm transfers and character name changes; digital versions of select Blizzard games, including Diablo II and StarCraft II; and in-game pets and mounts. In the near future, players will be also able to use Battle.net Balance for the digital World of Warcraft Battle Chest and WoW digital upgrades. In addition, with the upcoming launch of Diablo III, players will have the option to use Battle.net Balance to buy and sell items in the game's currency-based auction house.

For those of you who have not heard about it, Blizzard are implementing an AH in Diablo 3 that can either use In-game gold or real world money.

What's the difference between the gold-based AH and the currency-based AH?

"The gold-based auction house uses in-game gold for purchases and sales. With the currency-based auction house, players will be able to conduct these transactions using actual currency from an authorized payment method or from funds that have been added to their Battle.net account.
